Where the property data comes from

LookupOwner shows public property records from county and state assessor and tax rolls, supplied to us by AssessorBrief (Florida also uses the Florida Department of Revenue roll). That includes the owner of record and the mailing address on the tax roll. For California, owners who are individuals are not named (see the terms).

Remove my name

If you own a property, you can hide its record at Remove my name. It is hidden right away. To verify the request we keep what you put in the form (your name, email, how you are related to the owner, and any note) and a one-way hash of your IP address, used only to limit abuse of the form.

No FCRA uses

LookupOwner is not a consumer reporting agency. You may not use it to decide anyone's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, or housing, or for any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

If you sign in

A free account stores your email address, when you signed in, and how many owner lookups you used each day. We use your email only to send sign-in codes and account notices; the emails are sent through Cloudflare's email service. Sign-in codes expire after 15 minutes and sessions after 30 days. You can delete your account and its usage history at any time from the account page.

Daily lookup limit

Without an account you can see 3 owners a day. To count them we keep, per day, the parcels you opened together with a random visitor ID (a cookie) and a one-way hash of your IP address. We don't keep your IP address itself.

Your approximate location

When you open the map without a link to a place, our server guesses your city from your IP address so the map can start nearby. The guess uses the DB-IP database on our own server: your IP address isn't sent anywhere for this, and neither the address nor the guessed location is stored or logged. The “Show my location” button uses your device's location only if you allow it in your browser, only to move the map; we don't receive or store it. IP Geolocation by DB-IP.

Cookies

No advertising or analytics cookies, and no third-party trackers.

Map images

The base map comes from OpenFreeMap, and aerial and flood layers from the U.S. Geological Survey and FEMA. Your browser loads those images from their servers directly, so they see the request like any other website does.

We don't sell visitor data

We don't sell, rent, or share information about visitors, and we don't run ads.
